Dear friends & family of Ann & Kent,

Ann just called (Sunday afternoon 26 October) from Ventura, CA.
They'll be there until Tuesday 28 October or Wednesday 29
October.  From there they'll proceed south along the coast of the
Los Angeles area to Escondido.  According to plans they mentioned
earlier, they'll ride the length of Baja California and catch a
boat to Mazatlan, then proceed inland to the higher regions
around Cuernavaca.  They mentioned perhaps studying Spanish near
there, but not in Cuernavaca.

She told of their ride down State Highway 33.  In Maricopa, most
of the downtown businesses seemed to be boarded up.  They began
to despair of finding a place to stay but a Pentecostal church in
Maricopa let them use the church's apartment.  Ann & Kent also
enjoyed having some Christian company.

From Taft they rode Highway 33 or quieter alternatives south over
the mountains to Ventura, where they arrived last Wednesday 22
October.  They enjoyed some of the solitude and beauty of a
little-traveled corner of the state.
